The TopChair-S ® wheelchair is equipped with an infrared sensor system for the  sake of the safer trafficing.
The system continuously monitors the tilt-angle of the wheelchair and adjusts the seat accordingly to keep it in a horizontal position. The infrared system checks the wheelchair position on the stairs also. If the wheelchair exceeds the appropriate tilt angle on a certain side, the system automatically stops the chain tracks to prevent the any problem. Then by the brief forward pressing of the joystick, the system activates the correct trackway and straightens the wheelchair. Finally, the system checks the speed with which the user moves up or down the stairs. If the speed exceeds the safe operating limit, the system will stop the chain tracks, indicating that the user has to slow down.
